Shonna

My name is Shonna and I live in Zimmerman, MN with my husband and one of our four adult children. I am a heart patient myself and have been the primary caregiver for our daughter with complex medical issues for 22 years. I was introduced to MAPS through my work on the M Health Fairview Masonic Children's Hospital Parent And Family Advisory Council.  My daughter and I have experienced some of the best medical care our country has to offer right here in Minnesota, but we have also experienced obstacles and mistakes that have led to harm. I strongly believe in turning negative experiences into positive and learning from mistakes to help prevent as much future patient harm as possible. MAPS has been the catalyst in which real people not only share experiences and ideas but work with healthcare professionals and government agencies to find real solutions. It is an honor to be a voice for young adults like my daughter and I look forward to a continuation of great work through MAPS and its partners.
