This subculture draws on the large body of research available through the Agency for Healthcare Quality, which developed the TeamSTEPPS model of improving teamwork and communication (team strategies and tools to enhance performance and patient safety) among healthcare teams. Participants implementing TeamSTEPPS or crew resource management strategies in their organizations will find that they are already closely aligned with the strategies and tactics in this section. Strategies and tactics include assessing and addressing gaps in key areas, such as psychological safety, conflict resolution, responses to disruptive behavior, and team role definition. There also are strategies and tactics devoted to aligning hiring, training, and performance standards with teamwork goals.
